For the last two years all 6,000 members of the community of La Piedra have been left without access to medical services. The Dominican Government decided to withdraw staff from the UNAP clinic in the neighborhood of Guanin, a predominantly impovershed neighborhood of the community, where the great majority live below the poverty line.
We need your contributions to resume medical services in Guanin. We hope to maintain a staff of two physicians and three nurses so that we can restore the community’s access to medical care.
Healthcare professionals interested in volunteering at the clinic are encouraged reach out. Guanin is happy host these volunteers while providing room and board free of charge
