Hi everyone! Happy Monday 5th, first day, of the Summer Community Leadership. After more than a year, Guanin Community Center has been closed for the Covid-19.
We are so happy to bring back the joy in the faces of the children of the community of La Piedra, Municipality of San Antonio de Guerra, Dominican Republic.
La Piedra is one of the rural areas outside of the main city, Santo Domingo. Where many Dominican and Haitian families live out here, and the poverty level is extremely high.
La Piedra has been one of the communities most impacted by the pandemic Covid-19, leaving a whole community without work and health, the virtual education system here does not work for the lack and need of technology.
Clara Moore, English Teacher.
Thanks to this summer camp, the children will be able to return to share and learn with their peers in a safe and healthy environment, always maintaining hygiene and distance.
In previous years we have served 365 children from 5 to 15 years old, this year we have only received 45 children, from 5 to 13 years old from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, other groups from 14 to 22 years old from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, from Monday through Friday.
